Missing Out

There was this lady, who had thought she had found the love of her life.  Her boyfriend seemed to love her with all his heart.  He was very romantic and would take her nice restaurants and there were times that he would even cook her a candlelight dinner, he would also constantly write her notes expressing his love for her and send her cards in the mail with words like, “Love you forever.”  One day her “great” boyfriend broke up with her and moved onto another relationship.  She on the other hand had a hard time getting over him.  She would read those cards that he had sent her and play their favorite songs over and over again.  Finally, she decided that it was time for her to move on and to let go of her life but in truth she never did.  For relationship after relationship, she kept comparing every guy to what she had before but what she did not realize was what she had before could not be compared with what she was really missing out on.  For in the world somewhere was a love that was greater than what she had ever experienced but she would never know because she could never give up the guy she had before.

Sometimes giving up on what we have experienced or had before is tough.  Whether it is a relationship, a church that we use to be a member of; it could even be holding onto resentment, or even feeling betrayed by another.  Whatever it may be the truth is we can never give something else a chance until we let go of what might be holding us back.   As Paul said in Philippians 3:13, “Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are before.”   May we learn to let go of those things those things that we are holding onto so that we might experience something like we have never experienced before!!
