Christian life is not adding Jesus to one’s own way of life but renouncing that personal way of life for His and being willing to pay whatever cost that may require. —John MacArthur
We live in a world that is constantly changing and according to the Bible this will continue till the climatic return of Jesus Christ. This change that is taking place is not only happening in our world but also in our churches. Gone are the days where Hell is preached, let alone sin mention from the pulpit. While many of us do encourage people to accept Christ as their Savior, no longer do we say that one must be willing to turn from their sins. Instead we teach that one can have Christ as their Savior but still live the life that they want to live. That my friend is not true, for one to truly accept Christ as his or her Savior that person must be willing to leave their old life and embrace the salvation that is offered by Christ. Why should a person want to do this? 2 Corinthians 5:17 gives us the answer for it says, “….. if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”.
The church’s that preach one can accept Christ but still live the same life is in error and is preaching something that goes against God’s Word. Though that message may bring a bigger congregation, it only brings greater harm. May we as Preachers, Pastors, and churches choose to stand and preach the full Word of God. The world may continue to change but the Gospel/God’s Word never does.
1 “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2Timothy 4:1-5
