Dealing with the hurt and pain of life

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Been hurt recently? Maybe it was by someone that you cared deeply for and put your trust in but in the end all they did was betray you. Ever feel like getting even? Making them hurt the way that you hurt!

While it is a desire in us to see someone hurting because of what they did to us, may we remember the words that Christ said, “Father Forgive them” (Luke 23:33-34) What amazes me the most is that while Christ was on the cross, and the people were hurling hurtful and insulting words, He chose forgiveness. He could have easily called for the earth to open up and swallow those who have caused Him pain but instead He chose to forgive them and give it to God.

When someone we love has hurt us the worst thing that we can do is get even. While revenge may give us that moment of pleasure, truth is it will only make the pain worse. The best attitude to have is that of Christ, forgive them and give it to God.

The pain of what they did may not go away but we do have assurance that the “strength of God” will help us see it through.
