“So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’ He said to him, ‘Feed My lambs.’” John 21:15
When one studies Jon 21:15-17, they will notice that there are two synonymns for love. The one used by Jesus is a call for total commitment, while the one used by Peter describes a fond friendship. Some may put Peter down for not wanting to give Jesus all his love but in reality Peter felt like a failure. At one time, Peter boasted that he would be the one that stood by Jesus through anything but in the end he could not do what he had promised instead he cowered in fear. The beauty of this story is that even though Peter felt like he could never give Christ his all after what he had, Jesus saw something different.
Maybe there are some of us that feel as though Peter did, we feel like a failure, feel as though Jesus could never use us. The truth is my friends He can. Just as He offered Peter a second chance so He offers it to us. The only catch is that He does not want part of us but all of us. Will you give Him all of you today?
