Isaiah 61:3 gives us a blessed promise that one day we will no longer have to worry about mourning for in its place God will give us a crown of beauty, joy and praise. I can only imagine what that will be like when we will no longer have to mourn and weep. It gives every believer something to look forward too, when mourning will be no more.
Although this passage is filled with hope there is a reality we must all face. Until the Lord takes us home we still have to deal with mourning. For it does not matter if we are mourning over the loss of a loved one, friend, job, relationship, we will still have to deal with the pain and it’s after affects.
So the question rises, is there hope for us now. The answer is yes for hope is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, “28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” In these words Jesus did not say that you will not mourn or weep but instead He invites you to come to Him and in return He will provide you comfort and strength.
If you are feeling broken-hearted this morning, may I encourage you to run to Jesus!!!
