15 “However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.” Luke 5:15-16
Ever felt like you just want to scream? The things that you use to enjoy doing now annoy you and you don’t know why. When this happens maybe it is time to take a break.
I truly believe there comes a time when everyone needs a break. The break we might need might be from our job, people, relationships and situations. This break is not meant to be permanent but temporary a way to refocus and rethink over things. This break might be getting by ourselves for a few days or taking a walk outside. However we take that break is up to us.
While you take this break, may I give you some advice. Don’t take this break without God, allow Him to be a part of it. Use this break as a means to get closer to God and to seek His direction for your life. Once you have done this you will find strength and encouragement to go on in your daily life. When you look at Scripture this is what Jesus did and if Jesus thought it was that important we should too.
Make plans to take a break today, you will be glad you did!!!
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:31-34
DESIRE!!!! We all have it!!! Some of us desire to get married, some of us desire to know truth, some of us desire to make a living, some of us desire to be happy some, some of desire to buy a new house and on and on we could go. While those desires in itself are not wrong, the direction we go with those desires could lead us down the wrong path. For instance there are some who are struggling with their marriage but they have a desire inside that says they need happiness instead of seeking God for help with their marriage they began to look at outside influences to fulfill that happiness. Another is struggling with providing for his/her family and his/her desire is to make a living so that they can survive. Instead of trusting God for that provision, he/she begins taking things that do not belong.
The Bible makes it clear in what direction we should go too concerning our desires—Our Creator, Our Loving Father—Almighty God!!! He is the only one that can help us distinguish what our desires really are and He alone is the only one that can provide. So what are the desires of your heart today and have you gone to God concerning those desires????
“Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.” 1 Peter 2:13-17
God’s Word makes it clear that our duty as a believer to show honor and respect to others regardless of whom they are. The reasons for this is that first, we represent a higher authority, which is Jesus Christ. Second, when we show honor and respect we are showing others that we truly belong to HIM. And third, the Lord commands and expects us too.
Let’s be honest this is not always easy, especially when the other that we need to show respect too has treated us wrong. So how do we do it? I believe is by remembering three great assets of a Christian: prayer, forgiveness and love. If we truly seek God through prayer, He will help us to forgive and show us how to love others.
“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.”
As I sit here in my bed getting ready for a night of restful sleep, my mind can’t help but go back to how good our God is. No matter what has happen or taken place in our world or in our lives, our God is good. I know that there are many that would argue with me on that point because of things that have taken place in their lives or hurts that they have faced but if you go to God’s Word you will see how good He is.
First He is good because He is full of gracious and full of compassion. My friend, God cares about you and what you are going through. When you hurt, He hurts and all you have to do is to cast all your heartache upon Him. In fact James 4:8 gives us this promise: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you”
Second God is good because He is slow to anger and full of mercy. When you think about it you and I do not deserve the love and compassion of God. According to scripture there is nothing good in us that deserves that in fact we are deserving of God’s wrath . But because God loves us and desires for us to come to Him, He allowed His Son to pay the price for our sins. All we have to Him through faith in JesusChrist.
Finally God is good because He showers His tender mercies upon all. Everyone in this world, whether they admit it or not has experienced the goodness of God. They have air to breathe a world to live in and food to eat all because of the goodness of God. Yes, our God is good!!!!
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”[h] The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
Here I am sitting at the coffee shop, drinking a good cup of coffee, doing some studying but also browsing through Facebook. As I got to looking at all those that are on my friend list, I got to thinking of how it has been several years since I have seen many of them and than I sat at amazement at how Facebook has brought us together and what a joy that has been. People I have not seen, now I can see them by just clicking a button on the web page and signing in. I can now leave comments or messages and it is as though now we are connected once again.
As I thought about this, I got to thinking about something even greater. One day when I leave this life, I will be going to Heaven and when I get there I will be reunited with people I have not seen in years. I will get to see my grandparents, my father in law and even the first person I led to Christ. Not only that I will also get to meet the one who died for me and will be able to Praise Him face to face. Yes, it will be exciting and just as facebook has been great as far as being able to contact old friends, Heaven will be greater.
May you all have a great weekend!!!
I have always heard that confession is good for the soul for the Bible makes it clear that..”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:9. But a good question one might ask is this “how does one confess their sins to God.” I believe the Bible gives us the answer
In Hosea 14:1 God pleads with Israel to return to Him and if they return they should say the following, 2 “Take words with you, And return to the Lord. Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity;
Receive us graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips. 3 Assyria shall not save us,
We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’ For in You the fatherless finds mercy.” Hosea 14:2-3
From this simple passage we can learn how to confess our sins:
1. Repent and ask God to forgive us….”Take away all iniquity; Receive us graciously..” (vs 2)
2. Commit our life to serving only Him….”For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips.” (vs 2)
3. Renounce our dependance on other things…”Assyria shall not save us,
We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, ‘You are our gods.’…” (vs 3)
4. Declaring our acknowledgement of who God is and what He has done….”…For in You the fatherless finds mercy” (vs 3)
God’s Word has it written how we should do it, all we have to do is follow it
“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” – James 1:3
A man had a grandfather clock. One day he felt sorry for the grandfather clock because it had a weight on it. And that weight was always pulling on the clock. The man said, “Oh, Mr. Clock, you’ve held this weight so long, I’m going to remove it and let you rest.”
The clock protested, saying, “Don’t take that weight from me. That’s what keeps me going.”
In the same way, the trials and tests of life are there for your endurance. They’re to keep you going, keep you trusting, keep you praying, and keep you depending upon God.–Adrian Rogers

16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
When I was a child , I had difficulty reading. No matter how hard I tried the words never did make sense. One day all that changed and afterward reading became an adventure. Every book I came to or every road sign I would see, I would read it with excitement and joy.
At one time God’s Word was the same for when I looked at it the Words never did make sense. I would try and try to read God’s Word but always walk away hopeless. One day all that changed for I saw more in God’s Word than a book but an essential tool in my Christian life. What once seemed to make no sense, made perfect sense for in this word were more than words but instruction on how to live the way God wants us to live.
Today you may struggle in reading God’s Word may I encourage you not to give up but to keep on reading. You will be glad you did!!!
“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” – 1 John 3:16
The rich man asked Jesus, “Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” (Mark 10:17). Then Jesus asked him if he had kept the law. He said yes. In love Jesus responded, “One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me” (Mark 10:21b). But the rich man was “sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions” (Mark 10:22).
Jesus let him go. Jesus didn’t run after him. And there’s another thing I want you to notice: Jesus didn’t lower His standards.
Is there anything you love more than Jesus? You must willingly lay it down to be saved.–Adrian Rogers
